“Triumph epitomizes adversity”

A woman with rheumatoid arthritis answers a notice for a live-in housekeeper and lands in a one-room house with Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke), a gruff fish peddler who has no use for company. Aisling Walsh follows Maud (Sally Hawkins) through a Nova Scotia that wants her to stay small and quiet, while she keeps painting on whatever surface she can find. Her family doubts her, her hands are failing, and the little house may be all she has to hold onto.
