McCabe & Mrs. Miller

(1971)Directed by Robert Altman120 min · RDrama, Western
“The story of a gambling man and a hustling lady and the empire they fashioned from the wilderness.”

In the early 1900s, a remote mining town in Washington State is still little more than mud, timber and rumor when John McCabe (Warren Beatty), a gambler with a reputation as a gunman, rides in. He sets up a brothel with Constance Miller (Julie Christie), a British madam who insists on splitting the profits her way. Robert Altman lets the two of them talk over each other in the cold, and what stands between them is a partnership that neither will call anything else.
