Meantime

Mark (Phil Daniels) is loud, quick-tempered and out of work, living with his parents in London's East End while his shy younger brother Colin (Tim Roth) says almost nothing at all. Mike Leigh keeps the family in one cramped house in the Thatcher recession, where Mavis (Pam Ferris) is the only one with a paycheck. The film treats unemployment as the thing that fills a family's days, and everyone in the house has to find a way to get through them.
