Melancholia
“A meditation on the maddening persistence of sadness.”
Alberta Muñoz wants to stop carrying the people she lost under the Marcos dictatorship, so she joins a strange therapy in which she lives as another woman named Jenine. Two others enter the same game, Julian Tomas (Perry Dizon) as a pimp and Rina Abad (Malaya) as a nun, each trying to get through their own grief by becoming someone else. Lav Diaz wrote, shot, edited, produced and co-composed the film himself, and it won the Horizons prize at Venice.
