Melancholia

“It will change everything.”

A planet no one has seen before has appeared in the sky, and it is moving toward Earth. Justine (Kirsten Dunst) marries Michael (Alexander Skarsgård) just before it arrives, while her sister Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and Claire's husband John (Kiefer Sutherland) watch the strain between the two women grow. Lars von Trier stages the wedding and the waiting as separate halves, and holds both in slow, unhurried light.
