Memoirs of a Geisha

“A story like mine has never been told.”

Chiyo (Suzuka Ohgo) is a penniless fishing-village girl, sold by her family and sent to work as a maid in a geisha house in the years before World War II. Rob Marshall follows her through the long training that turns her into Sayuri (Zhang Ziyi), under the rivalry of the cruel Hatsumomo (Gong Li) and the guidance of Mameha (Michelle Yeoh). Everything she learns and endures is aimed at one thing, a kindness once shown to her by the Chairman (Ken Watanabe).
