Memories of My Father

In 1970s Medellín, Héctor Abad Gómez (Javier Cámara) is a doctor who puts vaccines and clean water in front of the city's poorest children while raising his own family at home. After a devastating loss in that family, he throws himself harder into public health work, to the irritation of the authorities. Fernando Trueba sets this in a Medellín of open political violence, where a doctor who speaks plainly for the poor is a man at risk.
