“"One more step and I'll fill your guts with lead!"”

On 6 September 1950, in Korea, Lieutenant Benson's (Robert Ryan) platoon is cut off in enemy-held territory after a retreat, with no word on where the division has gone. Sergeant Montana (Aldo Ray) joins them, more concerned with his catatonic colonel than with any order, and he and Benson can't stand each other. Anthony Mann sends them on a long march toward Hill 465, and the lieutenant has to lead men who barely trust him.
