Nobody can say why Bob (Gérard Depardieu), a petty criminal, steps into a bar and stops a married couple's fight, or why Monique (Miou-Miou) and Antoine (Michel Blanc) let him into their lives so quickly. He seduces the wife, then the husband, and starts teaching the two of them how to burglarize. Bertrand Blier plays the whole business in a flat, unbothered tone, as if the strangest turns were the ordinary ones.
