“A romantic comedy you can't refuse”

Michael Felgate (Hugh Grant), an English auctioneer in New York, proposes to Gina Vitale (Jeanne Tripplehorn) and learns that her father, Frank (James Caan), is not the businessman he claimed to be. Frank's mafia ties come with favors, and a son-in-law is exactly who gets asked. Kelly Makin keeps Michael's good manners and Gina's trust pulling against each other, while the wedding plans carry on around them.
