“One woman was to die at midnight!...another woman was to kill at the same hour...why?”
Jury foreman Edward Weldon (O. P. Heggie) presses the questions that send Ethel Saxon to a death sentence. Then his daughter Stella (Sidney Fox) announces that she has killed her lover, the gangster Garboni (Humphrey Bogart), just as Saxon is due in the electric chair. Chester Erskine, directing for the first time, shot it on a modest budget at the Thomas Edison Studios, which he had reopened for the production.
