“For those who have never seen it and those who have never forgotten it.”

New York City, 1969. Joe Buck (Jon Voight) steps off the bus from Texas in a fringed cowboy outfit, sure that rich women will pay for his company. The first man to take his money is Enrico "Ratso" Rizzo (Dustin Hoffman), a limping swindler who talks of Florida. John Schlesinger follows the pair as two broke, lonely men take up with each other in the same cold rooms.
