Midnight Run

“This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”

Mardukas (Charles Grodin) is a mob accountant who skimmed millions from a Chicago boss, then skipped bail, and now the F.B.I., a rival bounty hunter, and the mobster himself all want him first. Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) just has to get him from New York to Los Angeles, a trip that should take a few days. Martin Brest sets the two men side by side in a rattling car, De Niro gruff and sleepless, Grodin calm and talking.
