Midori

“The camelia girl.”

Midori, a young flower seller left with no parents, is taken in by a fairground troupe that puts her to work as a slave. The abuse is daily until Wandâ Masamitsu (Norihiko Morishita), a magician of short stature, joins the show and gives her hope for a better future. Hiroshi Harada animates the sideshow in hand-drawn detail, and the film never looks away from what happens to her there.
