Kresten (Anders W. Berthelsen) has just married the boss's daughter and is about to step into a big job at his father-in-law's company in Copenhagen. Then his father dies, and Søren Kragh-Jacobsen sends him back to the broken-down farm he grew up on, where his backward younger brother is now alone. A housekeeper named Liva (Iben Hjejle) turns up too, hiding what she really does for a living, and the career Kresten has built on a lie starts to come apart.
