Mike Bassett: England Manager

The England manager has just had a heart attack, and the job goes to Mike Bassett (Ricky Tomlinson), a man whose whole career has been spent in the lower leagues. Steve Barron films it as a mockumentary, with Martin Bashir narrating and cameos from Pelé and Ronaldo, and most of the action stays in boardrooms and locker rooms. Mike's first move is to promise the nation that England will win the World Cup in Brazil.
