Miles Ahead

“If you gonna tell a story, come with some attitude.”

Miles Davis (Don Cheadle) is a jazz trumpeter who has stopped playing, shut inside his house with his pain and his pride. Cheadle, directing for the first time, follows him as Dave Braden (Ewan McGregor), a reporter, pushes into his life, while memories of Frances Taylor (Emayatzy Corinealdi) keep surfacing. The title comes from Davis's 1957 album, and the trumpet sits silent while a man who once defined the sound stays inside.
