Decades after she vanished from the screen, the actress Chiyoko Fujiwara (Miyoko Shoji) lives in seclusion, until documentary filmmaker Genya Tachibana (Shozo Iizuka) arrives with a key she thought was gone forever. Satoshi Kon lets her tell her story, and the old film sets and the memories of her life start to run together.
