A department store Santa insists he is the real one, and nobody around him can tell whether he is lying, confused, or telling the truth. Susan Walker (Mara Wilson) is six and has heard the secret about Santa from her mother, Dorey (Elizabeth Perkins), so she watches Kris Kringle (Richard Attenborough) with a skeptic's patience. Les Mayfield stays close to Susan as she looks at his white beard, his red suit, and the face that never stops saying yes.
