Misericordia

“Some confessions come with a body count.”

Somebody in the village has vanished, and Jérémie (Félix Kysyl) is the only stranger in town when it happens. He came back for the baker's funeral and stayed on in the widow's house, with a neighbor who glares at him and a priest whose interest in him is hard to read. Alain Guiraudie lets Jérémie and Martine (Catherine Frot) circle each other at the kitchen table, and her kindness toward him starts to feel like a hold she has on him.
