Miss Firecracker

“An explosive comedy!”

Carnelle Scott (Holly Hunter) has spent years in Yazoo City, Mississippi, answering to "Miss Hot Tamale," and she wants a new name. Her plan is the town's big talent contest, the same one her older sister Elain (Mary Steenburgen) won ten years ago. Thomas Schlamme, working from Beth Henley's script, follows Carnelle as she throws herself at the contest, with Popeye Jackson (Alfre Woodard) nearby.
