Mister Roberts

“All The Uproarious Fun Of the Smash Broadway Play!”

The war is on, but the cargo ship where Lieutenant Roberts (Henry Fonda) serves is nowhere near it, hauling supplies through the backwaters of the Pacific. Roberts wants a transfer to a fighting ship, and Captain Morton (James Cagney), a petty tyrant who rules the vessel, keeps blocking it. John Ford and Mervyn LeRoy share the director's credit on a film made from a Broadway play.
