Model Shop

(1969)Directed by Jacques Demy95 min · PG-13Drama, Romance
“Maybe Tomorrow. Maybe Never. Maybe.”

George Matthews (Gary Lockwood) is scrambling to stop his car from being repossessed when he follows a Frenchwoman into a model shop, where photographers rent pin-up models by the hour. He spends his last twelve dollars to photograph Lola (Anouk Aimée), and Jacques Demy, in his first English-language film, lets the session turn into two people talking. George came in for her picture and stays because she seems as unhappy as he is, with nowhere to go.
