Molière
In seventeenth-century France, a boy named Jean-Baptiste Poquelin loses his mother young and grows up in the care of his father and his grandfather (Jean Dasté). Ariane Mnouchkine follows him from handyman work to law studies to the roads of the provinces, where he travels as an actor with Philippe Caubère in the title role. Before the playwright Molière wins over the Duke of Orleans and Louis XIV, he is a young man who chose to make a living by playing parts.
