“The only thing they have in common... is each other.”

In late-1970s Beverly Hills, Trisha Rawlings (Lily Tomlin), a socialite left lonely after separating from her husband Stu (Bert Kramer), spends her days in a house too large for one person. Then she meets Strip (John Travolta), a young drifter, and Jane Wagner lets the two of them circle each other slowly. The film treats loneliness as a feeling money can't fix, and what draws these two together is that neither has anywhere to be.
