“Not every conspiracy is a theory.”

Midway through a live broadcast, a gunman walks onto the set of a financial TV show and holds host Lee Gates (George Clooney) at gunpoint. Kyle Budwell (Jack O'Connell) is an investor who lost everything on one of Gates's stock tips. Jodie Foster keeps producer Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) in the control room, talking Gates through his earpiece while the cameras keep rolling and the clock runs down.
