Monk Comes Down the Mountain

“Ruthless defines a champion, principal creates a hero.”

He Anxia (Wang Baoqiang) has lived his whole life inside a mountain monastery, and now his master sends him down into a world he has never seen. Chen Kaige throws him in with Cui Daoning (Fan Wei), a kung-fu master guarding a prized artifact, and Anxia is soon caught between fighters who want it. Under the swordplay and the jokes, the film is about how a person raised on stillness learns to live among other people.
