Monte Carlo

(1930)Directed by Ernst Lubitsch90 minComedy, Music, Romance
“As intimate as a lady's boudoir!”

Why does a count turn up at the Monte Carlo casino and let a countess take him for her hairdresser? Countess Helene Mara (Jeanette MacDonald) has run from her husband and wants someone to fix her hair. Count Rudolph Falliere (Jack Buchanan) says nothing to correct her, and Ernst Lubitsch lets the small lie settle in, while she is still a wife with a husband behind her and Prince Otto von Liebenheim (Claud Allister) waiting nearby.
