Monte Walsh

(1970)Directed by William A. Fraker99 min · PG-13Western
“Monte Walsh is what the West was all about.”

The cattle ranges of Harmony, Arizona are being fenced with barbed wire, and the railways are making the old trail work scarce. Monte Walsh (Lee Marvin) is an aging cowboy who rides with his friend Chet Rollins (Jack Palance) and wants nothing but open prairie. William A. Fraker, a cinematographer making his first film as director, follows them as the jobs thin out, leaving two men with the only trade they have ever known.
