The sequel picks up the friends from American Graffiti on four consecutive New Year's Eves, from 1964 to 1967, scattering them well past their small California town. John Milner (Paul Le Mat), Laurie Bolander (Cindy Williams), Debbie Dunham (Candy Clark) and Terry Fields (Charles Martin Smith) each face the late sixties on their own terms. Terry and Debbie keep finding their way back toward each other.
