Viktorie (Iva Janžurová) has watched her sister Klára, the one everyone calls good, inherit most of their father's property and then draw the attention of a man she loved herself. Juraj Herz follows her as she starts dosing Klára's tea with a slow-acting poison, and Klára grows weaker with every cup. The two sisters sit at the same table, the teacups between them, and Viktorie stirs hers slowly.
