“Must mean something unusual”

Robert Crain (Marlon Brando), a German living in India during World War II, is blackmailed by the English into posing as an SS officer aboard a cargo ship bound from Japan for Germany. His job is to disable the scuttling charges before Captain Müller (Yul Brynner) can sink her if English warships stop them. Bernhard Wicki keeps Crain below deck among the crew, a man who cannot let anyone see what he is looking for.
