Eva Lovelace (Katharine Hepburn) talks without stopping and believes without doubt that she is meant for the New York stage. She comes to the city a would-be actress and draws three men in at once: an older actor, a philandering producer, and Joseph Sheridan (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.), a playwright. Lowell Sherman gives her room to go on talking, her wide eyes bright, the title already naming the flower that opens in the morning and is gone by evening.
