MOTHER

“She was the world to him.”

Shūhei (Daiken Okudaira) just wants to be a kid, but his mother Akiko (Masami Nagasawa) keeps sending him out to collect money from his disapproving grandparents when he should be in school. Tatsushi Ōmori follows the two of them as Akiko drifts from one bad man to the next, with Shūhei raising his little half-sister on his own. Nothing in his life suggests a way out, and the only person he has to protect is a child.
