Mother and Child

Karen (Annette Bening), a physical therapist, has spent decades wishing she had never given up the daughter she bore as a teenager. That daughter is Elizabeth (Naomi Watts), a lawyer who grew up adopted and keeps her own life closed off and cold. Rodrigo García follows both women, and Lucy (Kerry Washington), who hopes to adopt, a child's room waiting in a house that has no child in it.
