Somehow a mix-up with his application photograph lands a small-town dreamer an invitation to a Hollywood screen test, one he never earned. Harold Hall (Harold Lloyd), known to everyone as Trouble, packs up and heads west, and Clyde Bruckman directs his arrival among the studio lots and the actress Mary Sears (Constance Cummings). Lloyd stands there in his round glasses and boater, grinning at a city that has no idea who he is.
