Mr. Deeds

“Don't let the fancy clothes fool you.”

Longfellow Deeds (Adam Sandler) owns a pizzeria in a small town, writes poems on the side, and one day learns that a dead uncle has left him $40 billion. He moves to New York, where every stranger who shakes his hand seems to want a slice, including Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder), a tabloid reporter posing as a sweet small-town girl. Steven Brill directs this remake of the 1936 Frank Capra film, keeping the jokes broad and the heart on its sleeve.
