Mr. Deeds Goes to Town

(1936)Directed by Frank Capra115 minComedy, Drama, Romance
“Rocking America with laughter!”

Longfellow Deeds (Gary Cooper) is happy in his small town, and all he wants is to be left to it. Then a dead relative leaves him a fortune, and Frank Capra sends him to the big city, where lawyers, newspapermen and hangers-on line up to get at his money. Babe Bennett (Jean Arthur) is one of them, and Deeds keeps trusting people, even when he has no reason to.
