Mr. Skeffington

Fanny Trellis (Bette Davis) is the most admired woman in her circle, and she marries Job Skeffington (Claude Rains) for reasons that have nothing to do with love. Vincent Sherman follows the marriage as it cools and then collapses, with Fanny turning away from the older husband who adores her. The longer she looks to her mirror for proof of her worth, the less time she has left to spend it.
