Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle
“New York in the 1920's. The only place to be was the Algonquin, and the only person to know was Dorothy Parker.”
Why did the sharpest wits in 1920s Manhattan gather at a hotel table almost every weekday, and what were they all drinking to get through? Dorothy Parker (Jennifer Jason Leigh) looks back on the Algonquin Round Table, where Robert Benchley (Campbell Scott) and Charles MacArthur (Matthew Broderick) traded barbs from 1919 to 1929. Alan Rudolph follows Dorothy through those years, her humor getting quicker and her despair a little harder to hide.
