Mughal-e-Azam
Prince Salim (Dilip Kumar), heir to Emperor Akbar (Prithviraj Kapoor), falls in love with Anarkali (Madhubala), a court dancer in sixteenth-century India. Akbar refuses the match, and the quarrel between father and son hardens until it becomes a war. K. Asif stages the story at epic scale, and the film keeps returning to Madhubala, dancing for the court under Akbar's gaze.
