After the 1972 Munich massacre, Avner (Eric Bana), an Israeli intelligence officer, is chosen to lead a covert team hunting those responsible. Alongside Steve (Daniel Craig), Carl (Ciarán Hinds), Robert (Mathieu Kassovitz), and Hans (Hanns Zischler), he moves through Europe conducting surveillance and executing targets. Spielberg traces the toll of this work until Avner sits alone in a safe house, listening to the sea.
