Murders in the Rue Morgue

(1932)Directed by Robert Florey61 minHorror, Mystery, Crime
“The super shocker !”

Women are vanishing from the streets of nineteenth-century Paris, and the bodies that turn up have been drained and injected with ape blood. Medical student Pierre Dupin (Leon Ames) starts asking questions, just as Dr. Mirakle (Bela Lugosi), a carnival sideshow showman, takes an interest in his fiancée, Camille L'Espanaye (Sidney Fox). Robert Florey directs, and Mirakle's gorilla, Erik, sits caged inside the dark wagon, watching.
