Murders in the Rue Morgue

“LOVE and MURDER are the two consuming passions of the Rue Morgue!”

In Paris at the start of the twentieth century, Cesar Charron (Jason Robards) runs a theater on the Rue Morgue, where he and his wife Madeleine (Christine Kaufmann) perform a play of the same name. Madeleine wakes from dreadful nightmares, and then people close to Cesar start dying from acid, which brings Inspector Vidocq (Adolfo Celi) to the stage door. Gordon Hessler's film puts Cesar in the middle of it, a husband and an actor with a suspect's name on every list.
