Muriel, or the Time of Return
Hélène Aughain (Delphine Seyrig) sells antique furniture in Boulogne, where her stepson Bernard (Jean-Baptiste Thiérrée) has come home from the war in Algeria, and a letter from Alphonse (Jean-Pierre Kérien), an old lover, sends her to meet his train. Alain Resnais cuts their first days into short, jagged pieces. Hélène and Alphonse try to pick up where they left off, though neither tells the other what the years between them held.
