Muriel's Wedding

“Success is the best revenge.”

Muriel Heslop (Toni Collette) lives in the dead-end town of Porpoise Spit, where her father, the politician Bill Heslop (Bill Hunter), runs the house and her friends have already dropped her. She has never been on a date, yet she keeps her mind fixed on a wedding of her own. P.J. Hogan follows her to Sydney with Rhonda Epinstalk (Rachel Griffiths), where she gives herself a new name and begins to cut out the pictures that will build her new life.
