Murphy's Romance

“Just when you think you've found the right guy, someone even worse comes along.”

Emma Moriarty (Sally Field), a divorced mother with a young son, moves to a small town in Arizona to start her life over on her own terms. She strikes up a friendship with Murphy Jones (James Garner), the older local pharmacist, and then her ex-husband Bobby Jack (Brian Kerwin) turns up in town. Martin Ritt keeps the focus on Emma, a woman trying to decide what she wants for herself and what she can still put up with.
