Music of the Heart

“She gave them a gift they could never imagine. They gave the system a fight it would never forget.”

Roberta Guaspari (Meryl Streep) has just separated from her husband when her mother talks her into taking a job as a music teacher at the Central Park East School in East Harlem. Wes Craven, better known for horror, directs this true story of a woman who builds a violin program for public school kids with no experience of the instrument. The film follows her fight to keep that program alive in New York City, where the funding that pays for it can be cut.
