My Afternoons with Margueritte

Germain (Gérard Depardieu) is a big, lonely man who never learned to read, and he spends his days in the same small circle of friends, including Jojo (Jean-François Stévenin). Then he meets Margueritte (Gisèle Casadesus), an older woman who sits in the park and reads aloud to him. Jean Becker follows how those afternoons draw Germain toward books he has avoided all his life, with a steady risk that he may lose the one person who brought him there.
