My Big Night

Alphonso (Raphael) is a veteran singer headlining a New Year's Eve special that has to be shot in October, in a huge studio in Coslada, outside Madrid. Hundreds of extras are packed onto the set to cheer on cue, and Álex de la Iglesia crowds them in with the staff, among them Adanne (Mario Casas), until nobody can leave. Everyone is made to fake a joyful midnight, and the film makes plain how lonely that kind of forced celebration can be.
